One of my favorite things to do is find new ways to use ordinary objects. While I’ve never smoked a cigarette a day in my life, I have a strong thing for vintage and antique glass ashtrays. I mainly love using them as coasters for cocktails or vessels to house a bottle of wine. The deep inset of an ashtray catches liquids and helps prevent ring spots on surfaces—love a moment of style and substance—and they’re so easy to clean with soap and warm water.
Where to find: Whenever we’re out antiquing, I always keep an eye out for unique shapes, depths, and colors. I tend to be drawn to clear glass since it fits well in any situation but I do have a few pieces in lovely shades of green and amber.
